Capt. Kathy Granfield

Captain Kathy Granfield, of Fat Bottom Charters, is a licensed US Coast Guard OUPV Captain and the founder of VA Charters. Raised in a family with multiple generations of recreational and commercial fishermen, she spent several years working in research at the Yale School of Medicine and the Regional Water Authority before taking on her current day job in science education. Kathy runs charters for VAC on the Black Mariah, her family’s rare downeast sportsfisherman. Capt. Kathy fishes out of West Haven, CT.

Capt. Mark Petitt

Captain Mark Petitt, of Fire Escape Charters, has been hooked on fishing and hunting since early childhood. Captain Mark continued his love of the sea as a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy. After being discharged, he became a firefighter/paramedic. Since retiring from the fire department, he spends his days owning/operating Fire Escape Charters, located in historic Plymouth MA. Mark holds a U.S.C.G. 100 ton Masters License. Married to his wife Karen of 15 years, they have two sons who share his passion for the outdoors. Captain Mark is proud to be affiliated with Veteran Angler Charters.

Capt. Randell Bagwell

Captain Randell Bagwell, of River Rebel Charters, hailing originally from the great state of Texas, joined VAC in early 2013. Relocating to Rhode Island in 1989 , Capt. Randy served in the Navy for 10 years. His journey has taken him from rodeo to F16’s and B-2 bombers to building custom boats to owning and operating his own charter business. Currently working for the Dept. of Veteran Affairs Benefits Office in Providence, RI., Capt. Randy holds a 100 Ton Masters Captain License. He hopes that others will share in the joy of giving back to those who serve us and fight for our freedom.

Capt. Mike Pirri

Captain Mike Pirri, of Flying Connie Charters, has over 30 years of fishing experience and has professionally run vessels as a licensed captain for nearly 20 years. Capt. Mike feels completely at home fishing Long Island Sound to the deep canyons far offshore. He specializes in shallow water trolling for large striped bass and powerful bluefish. At age 10, he caught his first trophy striped bass weighing 42 lbs. Capt. Mike prides himself for being known as a safety fanatic. When not running the Flying Connie, Capt. Mike is the Lieutenant aboard the City of Norwalk’s 42′ fire boat “MU238”.

Capt. Shawn Tibbetts

Captain Shawn Tibbetts, of MaineTunaFishing.com, has been an avid outdoorsman since he was young, growing up in the Great North Woods of New Hampshire. Captain Shawn proudly served his country in the Marine Corps. Upon returning to civilian life, he began his charter fishing business in Saco, ME. He spends the offseason hunting and driving trucks. Shawn holds a U.S.C.G. 100 ton Masters License. Shawn proudly offers veteran charters throughout the year and works closely with different veteran organizations as his way to give back. MaineTunaFishing.com is a family run business, with Shawn’s better half, Lindsay, and Shawn’s dad, Larry, being the primary mates on the vessel. The primary fishing vessel Miss Megan II, is a spacious 31′ JC, and has ample deck space.

Capt. Chris Gergely

Capt. Chris Gergely, of Double Trouble Sportfishing has fished the waters around Watch Hill and Block Island for over 15 years and have learned what techniques and gear are necessary to catch our target species throughout the fishing season. His goal is to ensure you have a fun and memorable time while fishing the waters around Watch Hill, Block Island, and Montauk aboard the Double Down.
